Dr. Johan Vyncke
Administrator for ECCREDI (European Council for Construction Research and Innovation) for the “Targeted Research Action – Environmental Friendly Construction Technologies”
Johan Vyncke graduated as Civil Engineer at the State University of Ghent in 1981.
From 1981 until 1988 he has been working as Research Fellow of the National Fund for Scientific Research linked to the Magnel Laboratory for concrete research at the State University Ghent. Since 1988 he is working at the Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI).
As director for research & innovation at BBRI, Johan Vyncke is responsible for managing a group of some 120 researchers working in the field of:
Geotechnics, Materials, Structures, Environment, Acoustics, Energy and Indoor Climate.
Johan Vyncke is furthermore active in different associations amongst others as:
- Member of the Board and the Executive Comité of the Belgian Concrete Society (BBG)
- Member of the ENBRI EC RTD group - European Network of Building Research Institutes, European Project Coordination Group
- Member of the Operational Group of the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) and Co-chairman of the ECTP Advisory Group on Small and Medium Enterprises
- Chairman of the Management Advisory Committee (MAC) of the International Union of Testing and Research Laboratories for Materials and Structures (RILEM). Since September 2007, he has been awarded the title of Fellow of RILEM.
As Administrator for ECCREDI (European Council for Construction Research and Innovation) for the “Targeted Research Action – Environmental Friendly Construction Technologies”, he has been involved with coordinating over 180 European funded projects in Framework Programme 4, 5 and 6. Johan was also involved in the EC funded NANOCONEX project which had as main objective to pave the way for the setting-up of a Network of Excellence (NoE) on Nanotechnolgy in Construction Application.
