Luigi Cassar (CTG Italcementi Group, Italy)
Photocatalytic Surfaces in Construction Materials
Consultant for R&D. He is also Steering Committee Member, AIRI (Italian Association for Industrial Research) – Member of CNR’s (National Research Council) Register of Referees and Member of several Italian and European Committees in the field of Construction Materials Standardization.
Degree in Chemistry, University of Rome; he has worked several years in Montecatini/Montedison and University of Chicago before being appointed Vice-Director of Istituto Guido Donegani in Novara (Italy). From 1979 to 1982 he has worked as Vice Director of Pigments Research & Development of Ciba Geigy in Basel (CH). From 1983 he has covered several managerial positions in the R&D organization of Enichem and in 1991 he joined Italcementi Group and until 2006 he was Corporate Research & Development Director of Italcementi Group.
He has also worked as lecturer Professor at the Universities of Sassari, Parma and Bologna
Main interests: catalysis, material science, industrial processes, cement, concrete and photocatalysis.
He is author of 75 patents and 87 scientific publications.
